Mahzulfah S. Uppal

Mahzulfah has been practising family law exclusively since her call to the Bar in Ontario in 1997.  She is now in her 26th year of practicing law.

Family break down is difficult for all members of the family. There is upheaval and uncertainty. The emotional and financial stresses can be paralyzing.  Mahzulfah brings to every client going through a break down of the family unit and legal issues arising from that, a commitment to professional and excellent legal services and options in a cost-effective manner.

No two families are the same, and solutions for each family breakdown may be different. But the law is the same, and Mahzulfah finds options for clients within the family law legal framework for solutions. Many solutions for families are found outside the court system using alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, all of which Mahzulfah is experienced in. Where a client’s legal matters cannot be addressed in mediation or other dispute resolution mechanisms, Mahzulfah will effectively provide litigation advice and services in the court system. She is a zealous advocate and at the same time always works hard to achieve a final resolution in a fair and cost-effective manner.

Mahzulfah has appeared, for decades, at both the Superior and Ontario Courts of Justice in all Court Jurisdictions in the Great Toronto Area and outskirts. She has argued cases at the Ontario Court of Appeal.  Mahzulfah is well versed in the Rules of Court and navigating the Court system for the benefit of her clients.

Mahzulfah is well known in the legal field, and well respected by her peers and the Judiciary. She is involved in the legal community through her service with the Peel Law Association for nine years from 2008 to 2017, which included two terms as President and one term as past President.

Mahzulfah is a member of the Peel Law Association and is currently serving on the finance committee. Mahzulfah has also been involved as Board member with the Elizabeth Fry Society of Halton Peel and Peel Legal Aid Clinic.

Mahzulfah has presented at the Peel Law Association on matters of family law, child support and Pensions to her fellow lawyers. Teaching and presenting are passions for Mahzulfah.
